On August 27th, the Hella Mega Tour hit the Bay Area with The Interrupters, Weezer, Fall Out Boy, and hometown band Green Day. Due to the pandemic, this show had been rescheduled, but the wait was definitely worth it.

This metalcore/hardcore line up included Koyo, Kublai Khan, Movements, and headliner Knocked Loose, who were celebrating the release of their new EP A Tear in the Fabric of Life.

Outburn caught up quickly with Exhumed’s Matt Harvey, to discuss some of the cinematic inspiration behind their latest platter of splatter for Relapse Records, the succinctly titled Horror. We shot from the hip with a little rapid fire Q and A about some of Matt’s favorite (and least favorite) moments from the worlds of slashers, monsters, the unhinged, and the undead.

Americans have long been drooling over the mythical festival across the pond known as Download. One of the largest metal events in the world, Download Festival attracts thousands of patrons from all over the world for one week in June. Since its beginning in 2003, Donington Park has grown in notoriety for hosting the biggest bands in the world.

Finland has long been an iconic hub for rock and metal music, from the gothic to the heavy and even the symphonic. With the likes of Nightwish, HIM, Children of Bodom, Apocalyptica, and so many more ensuring Finland’s place on the international map of popular bands, there is no wonder that there is quite a demand for Finnish rockers to find themselves back on United States soil.

About the band’s latest single, frontwoman Molly Rennick says, “‘Exorcism’ is, essentially, a love song. It’s about being in a relationship where you discover new parts of yourself and let all your ‘evil’ out. It’s a fun, sexy song, but with horror influence and biblical metaphors.”
