As you’ve all surely experienced over the last month plus of our current Coronavirus quarantine, there are only a finite amount of things to do while we’re all staying at home—clean and organize your house, binge watch Netflix, exercise, sleep, eat, drink (heavily), and listen to music. And no matter what activity from that list you choose to partake in, music is the perfect accompaniment.

In February and March of 2020, European thrash fans got one of the best tours in history: The Bay Strikes Back European Tour. This tour was a collection of the Bay Area’s best and most legendary thrash bands: Testament, Exodus, and Death Angel. Unfortunately, the tour had many setbacks, such as multiple musicians being diagnosed with COVID-19, the deadly respiratory virus that’s sweeping the globe.

With the release of his fourth studio album, Heart Signal, guitarist/composer Michael Abdow shares with us his Top 12 favorite (and to play) guitar riffs. “I was having too much fun and realized I could make this list indefinitely, [so I] stopped at a dozen, says Michael. “These aren’t in order or anything.”

“When we got all three of our music videos back for this album, our director, Sam Link, thought it would be a cool idea to combine them into a short film! That concept isn’t really something that we see a ton of bands pursuing, so we figured we’d give it a try. All the videos transition into one another and we’re so happy with how it came out.”

Finland has long been an iconic hub for rock and metal music, from the gothic to the heavy and even the symphonic. With the likes of Nightwish, HIM, Children of Bodom, Apocalyptica, and so many more ensuring Finland’s place on the international map of popular bands, there is no wonder that there is quite a demand for Finnish rockers to find themselves back on United States soil.
