LISTEN TO THE NEW SINGLE “TREADING WATER“ FROM EMPIRE SPRINGS ONLY ON OUTBURN.COM

Empire Springs is continuing to exemplify their new, heavy sound on their sophomore single “Treading Water,” due out Friday, August 2. Featuring melodic guitar lines and driving drums that circle around intricate harmonies, the track ultimately hinges on a distorted breakdown and pleading final chorus.

Lead singer Brett Bellomy says, “‘Treading Water’ explores the heavier side of our influences, allowing us to lean into a more diverse territory of sound while still maintaining the core pillars of our music.”

Prog metal four-piece Empire Springs has emerged from an era of transformation, crafting a high-octane sound that appeals to a broad spectrum of rock fans. The group is gearing up for their six-track LP, Attrition, in 2025. The project delves further into their progressive roots through a metalcore lens, honing their craft with inspiration from their work with producers John Douglass and Eric Guenther [The Contortionist].

Empire Springs, the four-member band hailing from Birmingham, Alabama, meshes the intense energy of electric guitar-heavy metal with the virtuosic elements of progressive rock, crafting a high-octane sound that appeals across the rock spectrum. Composed of bassist/vocalist Brett Bellomy, guitarist Michael Naro, keyboardist Chadwick McDowell, and drummer Ethan Standard, Empire Springs began as a studio project between college friends. Eventually, Bellomy and Naro began honing in their collaborative songwriting process, and the quartet fell into creative harmony.
