THE HAUNT’s Top 10 Favorite Horror Movie Scenes

Florida rockers The Haunt, comprised of siblings Anastasia Grace Haunt [vocals] and Maxamillion “Max” Haunt [vocals, guitar, production], creatively lean on their own quiet lifelong bond to make a loud musical statement. They congregate around a boundless vision for what alternative music can be, accented by electronic textures, cinematic drama, and gothic spirit. Adding to that element is the band’s love of all things horror, which can be seen in their most recent strand of music videos like “Can People Really Change?,” featuring MISSIO, “New Addiction,” “Masochistic Lovers” featuring Craig Mabbitt of Escape the Fate, and most recently “Bad Omen.”

Today, the band is proud to share their Top 10 Favorite Horror Movie Scenes, which have provided inspiration for a few of their music videos.

1. Scream (1996)

The scene where Billy Loomis says, “We all go a little mad sometimes,” which is a callback to another OG horror movie, Psycho. Also, we can’t forget the classic opening scene, where Drew Barrymore gets the first phone call.

2. The Ring

Our favorite scene from The Ring has to be when Samara first emerges from the tv set. It was really life altering for us. Our mom wouldn’t let us keep the VHS in the house after watching the movie.

3. Sinister

Another one that really stuck with us is the scene from Sinister where the family is watching the tapes. The scene where the kids run over the parents with the lawn mower was the scariest thing we had seen…ever.

4. Nightmare on Elm Street

The scene where Johnny Depp gets pulled into the bed. Not to mention the crop top—iconic!

5. American Psycho

The axe murder scene in American Psycho is about as legendary as it gets. We dressed up as this scene for halloween last year. Also, can’t forget his iconic morning routine. Plus, Patrick Bateman is the love of my life, and I can fix him.

6. Rob Zombie’s Halloween

The scene where he breaks out of the institution and kills the guards. It was such a cool new take on Michael Myers to see him as this massive hulking figure, grunting like a barbarian.

7. The Shining

The Shining has some of the most iconic scenes in all of horror. Our favorite is probably the tricycle scene. No one can forget when you first see the twins lurking in the hallway and ask him to play.

8. Carrie (1976)

You can’t make a horror movie list and not include the Carrie prom scene. Possibly the best revenge scene in any movie.

9. Poltergeist

Come on now…We all knew this was coming. They’re hereeeeeeeeee!

10. The Conjuring

It’s hard to pick just one scene from this movie. It’s the rare, instant classic where the plot is just as good as the scares. If I had to choose one, it would either be the scene where Nancy is thrown around the room by the entity by her hair, or the rocking chair scene where Annabelle is first introduced.
