Finland’s electrifying alt-metal powerhouse LUNA KILLS continues its ascent with the release of the debut album DEATHMATCH out now on Sharptone Records. The band is, without a doubt, one of the most refreshing modern metal acts in the scene, combining alternative and nu-metal vibes with electronics inspired by game soundtracks. Their frontwoman Lotta, with her jazz singing background and incredible fry scream vocals, brings the audience to their knees.
INFLUENCES:
Mick Gordon: “Bfg Division”
Mick Gordon is one of those composers that we have on our rotation constantly. His work especially with DOOM and Wolfenstein has influenced a lot of our music and the music really elevates the games as well.
Don Broco: “Pretty”
We got introduced to this band by our recording engineer because he thought we would absolutely love the band and he was not wrong. Don Broco plays in the car almost every time we’re on a tour because it’s so energetic and cheeky, but they are also super talented musicians and their work has inspired us a lot.
Bring Me The Horizon: “Wonderful Life”
The whole discography of this band is amazing, but this song in particular was on heavy rotation for us. The riff and chorus really had us in a chokehold and it struck the perfect balance of rock, metal, and pop overall.
Wargasm: “Your Patron Saints”
Wargasm has such a cool vibe. The music blends punk and electro and their image is also very well crafted to suit the music. Their energy is really so infectious.
Muse: “Uno”
Muse is probably a band that has influenced us the most through our musical journey. Matt Bellamy and the band are really exceptional songwriters and their music is really experimental and cool. We listened to their first album pretty religiously at some point.
ESSENTIALS:
“SADIST”
This is probably the song we’d recommend listening to if we could pick only one from our catalog to represent us. It has a really cool electronic feel with a dynamic arrangement that balances between quiet, vocal-driven parts and full-on aggression—without forgetting the earworm chorus and epic guitar solo.
“deep cuts”
This song kicked a new gear in our chapter when we released it. It’s the perfect example of a LUNA KILLS song with a blend of rock and metal. It has a good riff and groove to it accompanied by a big poppy chorus. It is the first song of ours to be featured in a game.
“LEECH”
The song introduced a more heavier and nu metal type of vibe to our music. It still has the elements of LUNA KILLS but it expresses the darker and grittier side of us.
“love u”
This song was the first one we wrote for DEATHMATCH and it really set the tone for the rest of the album. It’s a super energetic song infused with game soundtrack influences, aggression and infectious hooks.
“slay ur enemies”
First single we released with SharpTone Records and the single we got everyone’s attention with. It’s a banger that you can mosh or dance to, whichever suits your vibe.
