Asking Alexandria brought a metalcore heavy lineup when their All My Friends tour hit the Belasco in Los Angeles. After a quick set by Wisconsin metalcore band Archers, The Word Alive continued to set the tone as the crowd started filling in. Telle Smith and company packed a lot of intensity and emotion into their 30 minute set. The set covered most of their albums, including a couple tracks from their latest release Hard Reset.
When Memphis May Fire took the stage, they wasted no time getting the now packed crowd moving. Fresh off several dates with Anberlin, including the When We Were Young festival, Matty Mullins was in top form and never missed a beat. He was constantly in motion and commanded the stage from all angles. The set list was heavy with songs off 2022’s Remade in Misery, and they played a couple new singles released this year. To the fans, this may as well have been a co-headlining tour. It was clear the crowd was here for Memphis May Fire just as much as they were for Asking Alexandria.
While Asking Alexandria brought their metalcore friends, they filled their set with arena rock radio hits. They unleashed “Into the Fire” three songs in. They mixed in other fan favorites with “Moving On” in the middle of the set before ending with “Alone in a Room.” They had a more mature stage presence to go along with the grown up songs. Vocalist Danny Worsnop moved around the stage with more restraint, unlike the whirling dervish-like Mullins. He belted out the lyrics over the thunderous guitars as the crowd sang along. It was a good night for metalcore and rock fans alike.
