With an incredible debut album titled Kink, Bedroom Wounds is the latest musical output of Kristian Kyle Ratliff, former drummer for Our Lady turned multi-instrumentalist and intense frontman for this new musical journey.
After the dissolution of Our Lady, Kristian was swift to begin exploring other musical outfits, as his creative output had not slowed down. From this process, Bedroom Wounds was born, and in 2016, their first EP was released. From there, Kristian spent a couple of years refining his sound, honing in his craft and ultimately experiencing the life and the loss that became the inspiration for Kink.
“This is a direct expression of my struggle with anxiety and mental health. It’s nine songs that go through a rage of emotions. Love, lust, pain and loss. I wrote this record when I moved away with a lover and I lost a huge piece of myself. This record is an attempt at getting it back, trying to sonically blend intimate textures with heavy chaos was the goal throughout this record,” says Kristian. “I wanted the listener to feel what I felt and be able to relate. Knowing that mental health is a struggle that feels like a lot of weight, and this is a release of that weight.”
Bedroom Wounds carries a lot of influence across the span of their first full-length album and will resonate well with fans of Type O Negative, Bauhaus, The Sisters of Mercy, and even contemporary acts such as Boy Harsher, Cold Cave, and other electronic-driven or goth acts.
Kink will be released worldwide digitally on 12/18 along with three beautiful, heavyweight, colored vinyl variations. The first pressing is strictly limited to 200 copies. You will be able to preorder the vinyl direct through Mind Over Matter Records as well as through Deathwish Direct.
