The Word Alive are sharing their raging remake of League Of Legends track, “Rise,” via Thriller Records on February 23. League Of Legends, The Word Alive, Mako and Glitch Mob have garnered over 440 million streams. “Rise” is the first TWA release since dropping their album, Hard Reset in August of 2023.
League Of Legends has a loyal fanbase, accumulating a player count of 180 million active players making it the most played and watched game of all time. Riot Games hosts large annual events such as League Of Legends World’s held in Seoul, South Korea in a 25k arena. This event is a world championship tournament and is an accumulation of each season. Each year, they have an official Championship theme song, a ‘World’s Anthem’, hence the original “RISE” release in 2018. Previous collabs include Imagine Dragons, Lil Nas X, Against The Current and PVRIS.
The Word Alive add their own biting edge to the League Of Legends track, “Rise.” The track puts-forth a larger-than-life energy honing in on the bands capability to create anthems. Having performed the track live at Riot Games’ World’s 2018 and 2023 event, “Rise” shines a light on lead vocalist, Telle Smith, showcasing bold vocals laced with brutal screams as the track continues on. The track unites gamers and rock fans alike making for a great pair.
“Back in 2018 I received an email asking if I had any interest in working with Riot Games Music to help create the 2018 League Of Legends Worlds Anthem. Little did I know that email would change my life, and lead to some of the most amazing friendships and career defining moments of my life.
Rise became the second biggest worlds anthem in esports history, and a staple amongst not just gamers but music fans world wide. I’m honored to play a role in Rise, but we were always asked over the years if we would make “our own” version. With the 5 year anniversary we decided to go into the studio and give fans exactly what they’ve asked for as a thank you for all of the amazing memories. I hope you enjoy our Rise Redux!” – Telle Smith, TWA
