Throughout the show, each band presented their unique styles, all combining music with theatrics and showmanship. This was the perfect night for the fans who love heavy music with elaborate stage shows.
TX2 opened The Kiss Of Death Tour Part 2 at the Palladium with an energetic set to warm up the crowd for the heavier acts to follow, and the set ended with the newly released TX2/Ice Nine Kills collab “Mad.”
Sweden’s Avatar followed with their great metal circus. Their theatrical performance weaved heavy riffs into their melodic death metal. The band showcased their elaborate stage personas with stage clothing that could almost be considered costumes. They layered coordinated movements and synchronized head banging hair over the crushing grooves of their melodeath songs. The set included fan favorites “Bloody Angel,” “The Eagle Has Landed,” and “The Dirt I’m Buried In.”
After Avatar, it was time for co-headliners Ice Nine Kills. The band took the stage with their trademark style that is as much horror show as it is a concert. Amidst their live human props and Spencer Charnas’ running around every inch of the stage, their metalcore and post-hardcore blend provided the soundtrack. The set list included the American Psycho inspired “Hip to be Square” and “Stabbing in the Dark,” their nod to the Halloween movie franchise. They kept the energy up and got the crowd ready for In This Moment.
The night’s headliner, In This Moment, brought a different type of theatrical show. The visuals took center stage as Maria Brink and company laid the backbeat behind the smoke and shadows of their stage show. While not always visible, Brink still commanded the attention of the audience with her presence and vocal prowess. The set included standouts “The Purge” to start the set, “The In-Between,” and “Adrenalize” and “Whore” to close the night.
