Exclusive Premiere: Chicago Dark Alt-Rock Glampires PLASMATA’s New Video for “Tattoo Vampire”

WATCH THE NEW MUSIC VIDEO FOR “TATTOO VAMPIRE“ FROM PLASMATA ONLY ON OUTBURN.COM

Plasmata’s new single is a glammed-up dark alternative rock cover of Blue Öyster Cult’s “Tattoo Vampire.”

With the video capturing the band live on stage, Plasmata has recently announced that they will take their melodramatic stage show on the road for the Imperfect Waves Tour in Fall 2024, joined by [melter] and 2 Forks.

Speaking to Outburn about recording the cult classic “Tattoo Vampire” as a single, founder and frontman Trent Jeffries says:
“I’ve been a fan of this song for a very long time, and knew that someday I would attempt a solid rendition with enough swagger to make it my own. It has been a staple of Plasmata’s live set for almost two years, so it is very satisfying to commit it to a recorded version.”

Helmed by Trent Jeffries since 2005, Plasmata combines classic Chicago industrial-rock and dark alt-rock with gothic “Glampire” aesthetics. Their 2021 EP, Portraits of Pain was produced by William Faith (of The Bellwether Syndicate, Faith and the Muse, Rozz Williams et al), and explored themes ranging from Trent’s harrowing recovery from a debilitating brain aneurysm with lead single “Leviathan” through to the “Jack the Ripper Manifesto” of “Ten Bells.” The EP in turn yielded remixes of “Leviathan” by William Faith, and the “You Call Him the Devi” remix of “Ten Bells’” by Ben Christo of The Sisters of Mercy.

Led by Jeffries’ onstage theatrics and the guitar histrionics of Marco Obaya, Plasmata live is a four piece band, known for routinely bringing the house down at Chicago haunts including Liar’s Club and Reggie’s Rock Bar.

“Tattoo Vampire” by Plasmata is out now on Bandcamp, with Spotify and all major streaming platforms to follow.
