Plasmata (Chicago, IL): Helmed by project mainstay Trent Jeffries since 2005, Plasmata combine classic Chicago industrial rock with gothic “Glampire” aesthetics. Their 2021 EP, Portraits of Pain, explored themes ranging from Jeffries’ harrowing recovery from a debilitating brain aneurysm with lead single “Leviathan” through to the Jack the Ripper Manifesto of “Ten Bells.”

[melter] (Chicago, IL): Chicago duo [melter] are Robert Hyman and Jax Allos—a sonic disturbance made of flesh, blood, and machine. Their new single “blacklist” showcases [melter]’s trademark blend of Jax’s powerful, soaring vocals and Rob’s propulsive battery of live drums and industrial electronics.

2 Forks (Cleveland, OH): 2 Forks is a new dark-electro meets industrial-rock project from Cleveland, Ohio, fronted by Danny 2 Forks alias Daniel C: longtime drummer for US goth icons The Wake. The 2023 debut album, Quanticode, is essentially a “concept” album, dealing with a fictionalized hunt for a serial killer, each track representing a different chapter in the larger story.
