Memorial Day weekend began on a heavy note, as the Back from the Gulag Tour featuring Brand of Sacrifice, Currents, Thy Art is Murder, and After the Burial made its way to The Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts.

In August, Outburn ran a feature on the Top 5 Underground Metal Record Labels, which was met with favorable praise (unless your label didn’t make the list). This time around, instead of a ranking system, we decided to focus more on the diversity of the different labels to spotlight our appreciation and give recognition to them. Because that’s really what the whole point of this is about, to get metal fans to check out the labels’ Bandcamp pages and their excellent rosters.

Failed Gods, due August 9 via Sound Anxiety, is the third full-length album for Sparrows, the post-hardcore outfit of Dan Thomson (vocals, guitar), Justin Sears (guitar) and Jon Busby (drums) along with new addition Jack Panic (bass).

“When we got all three of our music videos back for this album, our director, Sam Link, thought it would be a cool idea to combine them into a short film! That concept isn’t really something that we see a ton of bands pursuing, so we figured we’d give it a try. All the videos transition into one another and we’re so happy with how it came out.”

Model Stranger is currently promoting their upcoming LP Phases. The first single “Breaks My Heart” proves the band’s skill. The song also show’s off the trio’s range and ability, as a softer bridge juxtaposes perfectly with the fast-paced verses and refrain.
